More people searching remote employees
WHAT: According to LinkedIn’s own statistics on jobs advertised there, the number of ads seeking remote employees has doubled from 2020. Iceland also has a stated strategy that by 2025 at least a quarter of all government jobs will be offered as remote. Hired.com, which is an HR platform and helps companies find talent for recruitment, has seen the number of jobs advertised as site independent increase from 35% to more than 50% during the pandemic.
SO WHAT: As more and more companies discover the benefits of recruiting globally, more and more people are willing to advertise for employees far beyond the usual geographical and social boundaries. This has implications for how companies must adapt their internal structures and logics to handle more types of employees in several places so that everyone feels included and respected at work. It also means that all jobs potentially have global competition, which can make it more difficult for young people to enter the labor market.
